PAUL PETROVICH
Paul Petrovich, age 80 a lifelong resident of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, died on Friday, July 2, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on July 12, 1940, in Jefferson Borough (now Jefferson Hills), PA one of seven children of Nicholas and Pauline (Gavala) Petrovich. He graduated from Clairton High School in Clairton, PA and worked for over 50 years as butcher and manager of multiple grocery stores including Haines’ Market, Foodland and Weiss Meats, where he loved interacting with people.
His life revolved around his bride and large, beloved family. He was proud of his Serbian heritage and loved hosting large Orthodox Christmas and Easter gatherings. He was unselfish and would give the shirt off of his own back to anyone. Paul loved to repeatedly tell stories about high school, St. Mary’s Serbian Orthodox Church, in Clairton and the history of Jefferson Borough. His social nature garnered him friends especially while bartending at the GBU in the Gill Hall area of Jefferson Hills. He never met a microphone that he did not like. He will be missed by friends and family alike.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Gillian; siblings, Martha Lemak and Dorothy Simmen; inlaws, Paul Lemak, Frank Simmen, Lee Fazio and Ed and Pat Hornfeck.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years Marie F. (Hornfeck) Petrovich; four loving children and their spouses, Lisa (Jim) Lindow, Darlene (Keith) Bachman, Greg (Krissy) Petrovich and Cara (Bob) Breisinger; thirteen loving grandchildren, Derrick, Becca, Carly, James, Jacob, Kimmy, Aaron, Alby, Gabrielle, Max, Chloe, Leah and Luke; his four remaining siblings, twin brother Pete (Gail) Petrovich, Marian (John) Roman, Dan (Carol) Petrovich and Nancy (Wayne) Booth; In-laws, Maggie Fazio, Janet (Leonard) Kosuda, Bill (Shirley) Hornfeck, Jim Hornfeck, Al (Judy) Hornfeck, Joe (Sharon) Hornfeck, Denny (Nancy) Hornfeck, Phil (Laurie) Hornfeck, JoAnn (Bruce) Boone, Patty (Vinnie) Brennan and Regina (Steve) Kimak, along with a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the Stephan D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 (Large) Jefferson Hills, PA (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, from 2 – 4 PM and 6 – 8:30 PM, where a funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, July 7, 2021. Paul will be buried in Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery, Pleasant Hills, Pittsburgh, PA.
