JOHN WILLIAM SIEGEL
John Siegel, age 74 of West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, died suddenly on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. He was born March 20, 1948, in Greensburg, Pennsylvania one of two children of Gerald Norman Siegel and Ruth Louise (Sowash) Siegel. The family was raised in Manor, Pennsylvania, near Greensburg, and he graduated from Hempfield High School in 1966.
Upon his graduation from high school, he joined the US Navy and served as a Medic during the Vietnam War. When his military service ended, he attended drafting school and worked for Elliott Company in Jeannette, Pennsylvania. He later had a career in food service and spent time working at the Sony Plant in New Stanton, Pennsylvania during the late 1990’s into the early 2000’s. Most recently, John was working as a “monitor” for Mathews Bus Company in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania.
John loved watching sports. Especially cheering on the Pirates and the Steelers.
He is survived by his wife, Carole J. (Mack) Siegel; his son, Justin Siegel and stepdaughter Stacey (Matthew) Wintermantel, both of Pittsburgh; two granddaughters, Katey and Allison Earley and his sister, Mary Ann (John) McIlvaine of Jeannette
Family and friends will be received on Friday, January 20, 2023, from 2 – 6 pm in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com. On Saturday, January 21, 2023 there will be a visitation in the First Presbyterian Church of Duquesne 719 Duquesne Boulevard, Duquesne, Pennsylvania 15110 from 10:15 am until the time of his funeral service at 11 am in the church sanctuary. Military Honors will be performed at the conclusion of the service in the church.
John’s burial will take place in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at 2 pm on Monday, January 23, 2023.
If desired, his family suggests donations to the First Presbyterian Church of Duquesne or the American Heart Association.
