William "Bill" Hurley

Bill Hurley, age 79, passed away peacefully at his home in Elizabeth, Pennsylvania surrounded by his family.  He battled some major health issues over the last several years. He was born William Russell Hurley in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on April 15, 1944, one of 3 children of John Thomas and Helen (Seleski) Hurley.

After retiring from his almost 38 years at US Steel Clairton Works, you could find him relaxing in his chair listening to his favorite “Oldies”!

He was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret “Peggy” (Morrone)  Hurley; two children, daughter, Shannon Dubos and son, Russell Hurley; four grandchildren, Devin Dubos, Stephanie Hurley, Mason Hurley and Lexie Dubos; his sister, Joyce Evans and brother, Bob Roberts; many in-laws that he considered brothers and sisters, Chris Morden, Terri (George) Shreeves, Dan (Mary Ann) Morrone and Mary Morrone; many nieces and nephews; extended family including, Lisa Hurley and Lu Ann Sheridan and friends that were like a second family.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51, Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025 (412-384-03500  www.stephendslater.com from 1 – 3:30 pm and 6 – 8 pm. There will be a funeral prayer in the funeral home on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at 9 am, followed by a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joachim and Anne Parish, St. Michael’s Church McLay drive, Elizabeth, Pennsylvania 15037. Burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery, Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania.

Bill’s family meant everything to him! He had a blessed life filled with people and love. He will be deeply missed but is in heaven now keeping an eye on the rest of us!
