SANDRA SLATER
1939 – 2024
Sandy Slater age 84 of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away peacefully. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, one of 2 daughters of John Henry, Jr. and Dorothy Fern (Husted) Slater.
Sandy grew up in Brentwood Borough in Pittsburgh, but, graduated from Baldwin High School in 1957 when the family moved to Whitehall Borough during her high school years. She attended and graduated from the University of Syracuse in New York in 1961. After moving to Arizona, she went on to achieve her Master’s degree and teach art to elementary school through college level students. In the Scottdale area, she was self employed and owned an Art Gallery and Frame Shop. She was known for her sense of humor, kindness and limitless unconditional love. All who had the privilege of spending time with her were left with an understanding of what an amazing, compassionate and caring life of faith she lived.
She had 2 sons, the late US Army Veteran, Scott Keyser, who died in December of 2016 and surviving her, is son, Jeffrey and his wife Kim, Keyser of San Diego, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Sherry (Slater) Hafer.
Sandy was be buried in Southside Cemetery, in Pittsburgh, in a family plot with her Great Grand Parents, Conrad Frederick and Dorothea (Langkamp) Vallowe, her grandparents, John Henry, Sr and Johanna Fredericka (Vallowe) Slater as well as her parents and Uncles and Aunts.
