Robert Victor Myers

Robert “Bob” Myers, age 83 of Floreffe in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family. Bob was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on January 31, 1941, one of two sons of Victor Romain Myers and Olga Stephanie (Pudlick) Myers. He grew up on the Southside of Pittsburgh and graduated from Brentwood High School in 1958.

After high school, he joined the Navy. Staying in the Reserves after his active service, he Retired from the PA Air National Guard with over 26 years of service in the Armed Forces, including 18 in the National Guard. While in the Armed Forces, he served in Operation Desert Shield / Storm in 1990-1991. During his time in the Reserves, he worked for the Allegheny County Police Department, starting out as a Patrolman and then retiring as a Detective. With over 20 years on the county police force, he became a member of the 1st Class of the Allegheny County Police Academy and attended The Community College of Allegheny County, receiving an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Following his retirement from the county police he worked as a Court Security Officer with the US Marshall Service.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Catherine (Calnan) Myers; eight children, Meg (Shawn) Condon of Jefferson Hills, Mike Myers of Pleasant Hills, Robert “Bob” (Kristy) Myers of the Carrick section of Pittsburgh, Mark (Amy) Myers of Pleasant Hills, Mary Anne (Mark) Welsch of Elrama, PA, Mary Elizabeth Spadacini of Pleasant Hills, Matthew ( Debbie) Myers of Rostraver, PA and Madison (Colin) Ford of Oklahoma. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Brendan, Erin, Nicholas, Grace, Alex, Olivia, Emily, Brock, Luke, Jake, Stephanie, Johnny, Trent and Alyssa; his brother James “Jim” Myers of Baldwin Borough. Bob is now joined with the late “Buddy”, his favorite “furry” child.

Family and Friends will be received on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 2 pm – 8 pm in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51, Jefferson Hills, PA 15025 (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com. On Saturday, August 3, 2024, there will be a prayer in the funeral home at 10 am with a procession to the St. John The Baptist Byzantine Catholic Cathedral 210 Greentree Road, Munhall, PA 15120 for an 11 am Mass in the church.
