Phillip Lovejoy, age 62 of the Forward Township / Elizabeth, Pennsylvania area, died suddenly on Saturday, August 27, 2016. He was born on January 29, 1954 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, one of four sons of Edmund and Ruth Irene (Wyant) Lovejoy. Phil graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1971, received his college degree in Industrial Arts from California University in 1976 and was a retired Pittsburgh Public Schools teacher who taught from the early 1990’s until 2012 at various schools, finishing the last ten at Brashear High School. He was the owner of Pittsburgh Paper Stock Company, an avid farmer and builder / restorer of old houses; a gun enthusiast, pet lover and loyal friend who loved beer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one of his brothers, Ronald “Joe” Lovejoy. He is the loving husband of 33 years to Terriann (Marquis) Lovejoy; the beloved father of Hannah Lovejoy and brother of Edmund (Joanne) Lovejoy of Rostraver Township, Pennsylvania and Kenneth (Judy) Lovejoy of Washington, Pennsylvania.
Friends will be received in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home, 1701 Route 51 (Large) in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8:30 PM at which time a Blessing Service will be held in the funeral home. Father Dan Maurer of St. Thomas A’ Becket Catholic Church, in Jefferson Hills, will officiate the Service.
Phil’s family is creating a Scholarship in Industrial Technology at California University in his memory. Donations may be sent to his family while they are setting up the scholarship fund the University.
