Peter Joseph Micheli, Jr.

Peter J. “PJ” Micheli, Jr., 86, of Brookline in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 13, 2025. Born, one of two children, to the late Peter, Sr. and Providence (Sodini) Micheli, he was the beloved husband of the late Mary Louise (Miller) Micheli.

A devoted father, PJ is survived by his daughters Suzanne (Dr. Sean) Leehan and Cheryl (John) Talamo. He was a proud and loving Nonno to Dr. Peter (Jessica) Leehan, Sean (Kelly) Leehan, Daniel Leehan, Francesca Talamo, and Isabella Talamo. PJ also leaves behind five cherished great-granddaughters: Abigail, Emma, Aubrey, Ciara, and Kendall Leehan. He is further survived by his dear brother, Eugene (Mary Ellen) Micheli.

PJ’s legacy is built upon his service and dedication. He proudly served as a veteran in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and spent 41 years with the Pittsburgh Fire Bureau, rising through the ranks to serve as Fire Chief until his retirement in 2005. His impact on the Pittsburgh Fire Department, his colleagues, and his community will never be forgotten.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 4 – 8 pm in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025 (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com. There will be a prayer in the funeral home on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 9 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Gabriel Catholic Church at 10 am. Peter’s burial will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his wife.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be sent to the Pittsburgh Fire Fighters Foundation, Inc. (120 Flowers Avenue Pittsburgh, PA 15207), a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring and supporting fallen, retired, and active firefighters and their families through memorials, financial aid, scholarships, and community outreach.
