Paulette Mae Coss

February 6, 1943 — 2025

Clairton

Paulette Mae Coss, age 82, formerly of Clairton, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully in Wilmington, DE, where she had been living for the last few years. She was born February 6, 1943, in McKeesport, PA and was one of three children of the late Robert Edward Coss, Sr and Irene Regina (Wozniak) Coss.

Paulette attended Clairton High School graduating in 1961. After high school, Paulette went to Robert Morris School of Business, which prepared her for her 40+ year career at U.S. Steel Clairton Mill Works where she worked as a Secretary until she retired in 2003. She was proud of her long service at U.S. Steel and was considered an exemplary employee by both peers and management. Paulette also attended Barbizon Modeling School of Pittsburgh and modeled for local department stores, cosmetic and fashion shows in the Pittsburgh area.

Paulette had a larger-than-life personality and loved her family and friends fiercely. She had a very distinctive fashion style, rocking jet black hair with red lipstick, large gold and Amethyst jewelry, and the latest fashionable clothing, usually in purple, her favorite color. She had a vivacious and outgoing personality and could talk to any and everyone she met. Paulette was an Aquarius and a zodiac enthusiast; it took no time for her to discover someone’s birthday then recite from memory their unique traits and astrological insights. Her hobbies were traveling, walking, shopping, and gathering with family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by both of her siblings, brother, Robert Edward “Bob” Coss, Jr. and her sister, Jacqueline Irene “Jackie” (Coss) Dean and a niece, Katherine Marie Dean.

Paulette is survived by her four nephews and niece: Thomas (Carrie) Dean and Robert (Morgan) Dean of Middletown, DE; Eric (Margaret) Coss of Las Vegas, NV; Lance (Terrance) Coss of Skiatook, OK, and Darcy (John) Hansen of Austin, TX. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Eric Dean of Bear, DE and her sister-in-law Eleanor Coss of Austin, TX.

Family and friends will be received at Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home, 1701 Route 51 Jefferson Hills, PA 15025, on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:30am, followed by noon mass at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, THC Parish, 460 Reed St. Clairton, PA 15025. Paulette’s burial will take place at St. Clare Cemetery directly following mass.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to ACTION-Housing, Inc., 611 William Penn Pl #800, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
