MICHAEL SVAC
Michael Joseph Svac (Swatch) of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania age 81, passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 6, 2011. He was born in Clairton, Pennsylvania a son of the late Joseph and Anna (Goffa) Svacs.
He was the beloved husband for 54 years to Ursula (Herky) Roucroft Svac. The loving father of Kathleen (Ali) of Ocean City, New Jersey and Michael (Kathleen) Svac of Naperville, Illinois. The proud grandfather of Kayla and Kameron Ghanavati, David, Brandon, and AJ Svac. The brother of Mary Bodner of New Bern, North Carolina, Margaret (John) Matus of Florida, Dorothy (Alvin) King of Clairton and the late Anna Kapusta and Irene Colavincenzo. He was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He served in the Marines during the Korean War, was retired from Hercules (now Eastman) Chemical Plant in Jefferson Hills, after 32 years of employment, was a member of American Legion Post 75 and SOAR.
Friends will be received at the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home, 1701 Route 51 (Large) in Jefferson Hills on Saturday, October 8, 2011 from 6 – 8 PM and Sunday, October 9, 2011 from 3 – 8 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Clare of Assisi Parish, on Reed Street in Clairton on Monday, October 10, 2011 at 10 AM. Father Charles Baptiste will celebrate the Mass. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Interment with Military Honors will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies near Bridgeville, Pennsylvania.
Mike lived life to the fullest and will be missed by many.
