MICHAEL  "MICK"  KEARNS

Michael “Mick” Kearns, age 70 of Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania, passed away suddenly, from cardiac issues, at his home on Monday, June 17, 2019.  He was born April 25, 1949 Michael Charles Kearns, one of five children of William Michael Kearns and Gervase Mary (Hegerly) Kearns.

Mick entered the US Coast Guard in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan with his best friend Rich Mittelmeier, during the Vietnam Era.  He worked his entire career with Duquesne Light and loved fixing things and working on projects.  “If Grandpap can’t fix it no one can!” is a phrase heard coming from his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and is the loving husband of 49 years of Sherri Kearns.  Mick is also survived by two children, daughter, Kelli (former spouse Michael Haberman) Haberman and Dr. Richard (Lara) Kenney; five grandchildren, Ryan Kenney, Brady Haberman, Kacie Haberman, Corey Haberman and Grace Kenney; his mother Gervase; four siblings, Leonard (Peg) Kearns, William (Connie) Kearns, Doreen (Glenn) Eisel and Tom Kearns and life long friends Gary Jurgovsky, Rich Mittelmeier and Joe T. Dusch.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 from 3 – 8 pm and on Thursday, June 20, 2019 from 11am – 8 pm in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home, 1701 Route 51, Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025 (412-384-0350).  There will be a prayer in the funeral home on Friday, June 21, 2019 at 9 am followed by Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas A’ Becket Catholic Church at 10 am.  Fr. Dan Maurer will be celebrating the Mass, along with Fr. Robert Cedolia.

Charitable contributions may be made to the St. Thomas A ’Becket “old church” new kitchen fund, 139 Gill Hall Road Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025.
