Mark Francis Mihalko, age 63 of South Park, Pennsylvania, passed away suddenly, while in Deep Creek, Maryland, on Friday, July 26, 2024. Mark was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania on December 22, 1960, 1 of 4 children of Michael F. and Audrey Ann (Mayzel) Mihalko.
He graduated from St. Elizabeth High School in the Baldwin Whitehall area of Pittsburgh, PA and received a Project Manager’s Degree from Rutger’s University in New Jersey. He then worked as a Project Manager for Verizon for 28 years and retired. After retiring from Verizon, he came out of retirement to be a Project Manager for Comcast for 4 1/2 years.
When not working, Mark could be found at Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church cooking for the Fish Fry’s and other special events. He volunteered and cooked for St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church’s Knights of Columbus in Oakland, Maryland. He also loved volunteering for the Appalachia group and organizing their bake sales. Mark also volunteered and cooked for the South Park Meals on Wheels.
In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by his 2 brothers, Michael M. and Ronald J. Mihalko. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Cary A. (McKinlay) Mihalko; his sister, Carol (Robert) Mathews; his sister-in-law, Cathy Mihalko; his brother-in-law, Jeff (Barb) McKinlay and many nieces and nephews. Mark also had a special bond with his mother-in-law, Ruth McKinlay.

On Thursday, August 1, 2024, there will be a prayer in the funeral home at 9 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Catherine Laboure’ Parish, St. Joan of Arc Church 6470 Library Road, South Park, PA 15129.
Mark was like the “Energizer Bunny”, always on the move. He was a real people person, he always kept in touch with family and friends. He helped and touched others, wanting to always see them prosper. His life was always a celebration. He found joy in everyone and loved making them smile.
