Lona Mae (Voelkel) Johnson, age 96, of Alpine, Utah, formerly of Clairton, Pennsylvania passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2011. Mae was born on May 26, 1914 in Clairton, a daughter of Carl and Agnes (Brown) Voelkel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Alvin in 1979, her eldest son Robert in 2009, 3 brothers, Carl, John and Paul Voelkel, 2 sisters, Agnes Payne and Eve Patton and a granddaughter, LeAnn Johnson. She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Robert) Lambert of Gainesville, Virginia; 5 sons, Kenneth of Clairton, David (Joan) of Alpine, Utah, Richard (Sandra) of Germantown, Maryland, Mark (Kim) of San Ramon, California and Philip (Joy) of Clairton; 17 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and many extended family members and friends, all of whom will miss her loving care. Mae was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
There will be a viewing at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 210 Old Clairton Road, Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania on Saturday, February 12, 2011 from 11 AM – 12 Noon, where her funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM. Burial will follow in Lebanon Church Cemetery in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania.
