Liberata "Libby” Alfonsi, age 101 formerly of West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, August 13, 2024. She was born on January 18, 1923, in Comune de Poggio Picenze in L’Aquila, Italia. She was one of five children of Luigi and Rosalia (D’Allessandroni) Cerasoli. Libby came to America in 1956 at the age of 33.
She was a former member of the St. Paulinas Church in Wilson, Clairton, Pennsylvania, now part of the Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish. Libby loved crocheting and cooking; her coffee making, Easter Bread and homemade pasta were famous among her family and friends; she was known for her hospitality to all who knew her. She also loved painting and gardening.
Libby was known and loved by everyone!!
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio “Tony” Alfonsi, her four siblings, sisters, Crema Maria and Giulia and brothers, Domenico and Adalberto and her favorite 4 legged friend, her cat, Mikey. Libby is survived by her two children, son, Anthony (Crystal) Alfonsi of Whitehall Borough in Pittsburgh, PA and, daughter, Rosi (Bruno) Bonacchi of Pleasant Hills in Pittsburgh, PA; four grandchildren, Mary, John, Lucia and Daniel, and many nieces and nephews in the US and Italy.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, August 16, 2024, from 1 – 4 PM and 7 – 9 PM in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51, Jefferson Hills, PA 15025 (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com. On Saturday, August 17, 2024, there will be a prayer in the funeral home at 9:15 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, the St. Thomas A’ Becket Church 139 Gill Hall Road, Jefferson Hills, PA 15025. Libby will be buried with her husband in St. Clare Cemetery in Clairton, PA.
