LaVerne Reilly age 95, of West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018 in Brookville, Pennsylvania. She was born September 2, 1922, one of four children of Arvid B. Stabler and Clara Marion (Keck) Stabler in Clairton, Pennsylvania.
LaVerne graduated from Clairton High School in 1940 and then attended and graduated from Duff’s Business College. Next, she served in the US Navy Waves during WWII and then was a proofreader for the McKeesport Daily News. A member of Lebanon Presbyterian Church, where she was an ordained elder, taught Sunday School, and an editor of Revelations the church newsletter for 32 years. She was also a member of Christian Servitors, the Chancel Choir for over 40 years, AARP #2170, Young Oldsters Bowling League, Butler Dollies Golf League, played bridge and loved to travel touring most of the United States, Canada, the Caribbean Countries and parts of Europe and Asia.
In addition to her parents, LaVerne was preceded in death by her loving husband, William P. Reilly of 68 years in 2017, and her brother, Donald A. Stabler in 2013. She is survived by three daughters, Beverly (Lawrence) Wehrheim of The Villages, Florida, Barbara (J. Richard) Beggs of Clarion, Pennsylvania and Lorraine (John) Beauchamp of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; one son, William W. (Cindy) Reilly of Lewisberry, Pensylvania; three grandsons, Jared and Bradley Beggs and Tanner Reilly; four great grandchildren, Hannah, Brody, Bryce and Logan Beggs and two sisters Elva Stockdill of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and Doris Rutledge of West Mifflin.
Friends will be received in the Lebanon Presbyterian Church in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 from 10 - 11 am, where her funeral service will follow at 11 am with Rev. Dr. Robert Titus officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Church Cemetery.
