LARRY JAMES SCHMIDT

Larry Schmidt, age 68 of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, died on Monday, February 15, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.  Larry was born on April 1, 1952 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania one of three children of Charles Edward Schmidt and Mary Catherine (Yunecko) Schmidt.  He grew up in White Oak, Pennsylvania and graduated from McKeesport Vo-Tech in 1970.

Larry was a machinist working for US Steel at the Homestead Works, Whitaker Metals and retired from McKees Rocks Forgings.  He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener.

He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy (Slaterback) Schmidt; two children, Brian (Tammy) Schmidt and Kelly (John) Youkers; four grandchildren, Allyssa, Tyler, Kate and Nick; three great grandchildren, Aubrey, Jaxson and Grayson; two sisters, Debra (Larry) Boyko and Cynthia (Tim) Indyk both of White Oak and his “four-legged” friend, dog, Chelsey.

Family and friends will be received in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025 (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm. His funeral service will be held privately with his family.  He will be buried in Mount Vernon Cemetery in Elizabeth Township, Pennsylvania.
