JOSEPH  BRIER

Joseph L Brier, age 89 of West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, died on Friday, October 25, 2013.  He was born December 26, 1923 in Dravosburg, Pennsylvania, the youngest of eight children of William B. and Annie (Sanity) Brier.  Joseph worked for US Steel’s Irvin Works in West Mifflin for over 40 years and was a long time member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in West Mifflin.  He was a U. S. Army Veteran of WW II, serving in the European Theatre and belonging to V.F.W. Post 3368.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by all of his brothers and sisters.  He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lois (Kegler) Brier; three children, Joseph C. Brier of West Mifflin, Carol (Paul) Popp of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Mark (Bonnie) Brier of Mohnton, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Randi (John), Zachary and Claire and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 6 PM on Sunday at the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 (Large) in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania. Additional visitation will be from 10:30 AM until a prayer at 11:15 AM on Monday in the funeral home.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 12 NOON on Monday.  Burial will follow in Lebanon Church Cemetery immediately next to the church.
