Janet Ann McKernan

Janet McKernan, age 84 of Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024.  She was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania on October 15, 1939, and was adopted by James and Hazel (Wingard) Molen.

Janet, formerly a resident of West Elizabeth, PA, for 58 years, worked as an operator for Bell Telephone and later retired as a Service Desk Supervisor for Kids R US.  She was a faithful member of Elrama Community Methodist Church in Elrama, PA, was a Past Matron of Elizabeth Chapter #418 Order of the Eastern Star, a current member of Anna M. Rote Chapter #491 of the Eastern Star and a Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of Jefferson Regional Medical Center.

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kaleigh Elizabeth Anderson and her only siblings, brothers, Thomas George McBride and James Donald McBride, as well as several in-laws. Janet married Paul Joseph McKernan on May 20, 1964, and he survives at home. Also surviving are 2 daughters, Debbie  (Randy) Anderson of Niles, OH and Kim (Bob) Moore of Duck Key, FL, as well as a grandson, Zach Anderson of Nashville, TN and granddaughter, Kennedy Moore of Maryland. She is also survived by nephews, Jimmy and Jeremy (Addie) McBride and a sister-in-law Mary Ogurchak of Greensburg, PA and her children, as well as many cousins.

 Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, from 4 pm to 7:30 pm in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral  Home 1701 Route 51 Jefferson Hills, PA 15025 (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com. A funeral service for Janet will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 11 am, with her burial following in Lebanon Church Cemetery in West Mifflin, PA.

There will be an Eastern Star service for Janet Wednesday evening at 7 pm during the visitation.
