Jim Dorsey

James Dorsey, age 80 of Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 3, 2024, in his home with his family. He was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania on December 20, 1943, and grew up in the Port Vue area, one of two children of John Vincent Dorsey and Mary Elizabeth (Barron) Dorsey.

 

Jim was in the US Marine Corps when the Vietnam war began and was Honorably Discharged as a Lance Corporal (E-3) from the Marine Corps Reserves in 1967. He worked for US Steel for 30 years as an Electrical Technician. In his time away from work, he was an avid gardener, who loved the “outdoors” and spending time in the “country” with his family. Jim loved football, especially watching the local high school, Thomas Jefferson Jaguars, play on Friday evenings and going to LA Fitness every day to work out and spend time with his cronies.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his wife of 55 years, Connie Dorsey; their three sons, James “Jay” (Cynthia) Dorsey, Todd (Jessica) Dorsey and Matthew (Lucinda) Dorsey; five grandchildren, Hannah (Dominic) Meier, James “Jase” Dorsey, Riley and Levi Dorsey and Paige Raines; one sister, Eileen (Ernest) Miller; two nephews, Daniel (Jenn) Miller and Brian Miller and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jeanie and James Franciscus.

 

Family and Friends will be received at a Memorial Visitation on Thursday, November 7th, 2024 from 1 – 3 pm and 6 – 8 pm in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025 (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com. A Memorial Mass will be Celebrated on Friday, November 8th, 2024, at 10 am at Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Thomas A’ Becket Catholic Church, 139 Gill Hall Road Jefferson Hills, PA 15025. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH. As per Jim’s wishes, inurnment of his cremated ashes will be in Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors following the Mass.

 

If desired, donations in his name may be made to Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish.

 

THIS CHAPTER HAS CLOSED, BUT JIM’S STORY CONTINUES IN HIS SONS AND GRANDCHILDREN, WHO GAVE HIM GREAT JOY AND OF WHOM HE WAS ALWAYS SO PROUD.
