Helen F. Rizzo, age 85 of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania formerly of Port Vue, Pennsylvania, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2019. She was born July 7, 1934 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania 1 of 2 children of the late Matthew and Frances Rosensky.
Helen worked as a Lab Clerk at McKeesport Hospital and as a secretary for G.C. Murphy Company in McKeesport. She was a member of St. Mark’s Parish, the Christian Mothers and was previously active with the Port Vue Senior Citizens. She also loved her sports teams always rooting for the Pirates, Penguins, Steelers and Penn State Nittany Lions!
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph P. Rizzo. She is survived by 3 children, Joseph C. (Karen) Rizzo of Jefferson Hills, Karen (Dan) O’Connell of Severna Park, Maryland and Barbara (DJ) Baumgart of Centreville, Virginia; 9 grandchildren, Kathy, Kristy, Kari (Ian), Kellie, Danny, Gina, Donald, Rebecca and Joseph; 1 sister, Leona Majewski of Oregon; and many nieces and nephews. Helen’s family would like to extend a special thanks to long time friend and caretaker Deborah Foster and the staff at Mt. Vernon Senior Living & 365 Hospice.
Friends will be received at the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home, 1701 Route 51 Jefferson Hills 15025 (412-384-0350) Wednesday, September 11th from 6 – 8 PM and Thursday, September 12th from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM. Prayer in the funeral home Friday, September 13th at 9 AM, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM St. Mark Parish (St. Eugene Church) Liberty Borough, Pennsylvania. Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills, PA.
