GERALD “JERRY” PECONI
Jerry Peconi, age 68 of Jefferson Hills, PA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family and friends on Wednesday, March 8, 2017. He was born Gerald Alan Peconi on June 10, 1948 in Arnold, PA. Jerry was a graduate of Arnold High School and Slippery Rock College. He served our country honorably with the 173rd Airborne Division of the US Army from 1968 – 1970. He had recently retired as Vice President of Finance from Paul Wurth Inc.
Jerry was the beloved husband of 34 years to Diane (Sprung) Peconi; the loving father of Jessica (Pierce) Peconi-Cook and Adam Peconi; and the devoted son of Helen (Slagle) Peconi and the late Neno Peconi. He will be dearly missed by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends will be received in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home, 1701 Route 51 (Large) in Jefferson Hills on Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 6 – 9 PM and on Sunday, March 12, 2017 from 1 – 3 and 6 – 8 PM. A prayer will be held in the funeral home on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 11:15 AM with Mass of Christian Burial following at 12 Noon in St. Thomas A’ Becket Catholic Church 139 Gill Hall Road in Jefferson Hills. Father Daniel Maurer will be Celebrating the Mass. Jerry’s burial will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA with Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the St. Thomas A’ Becket Building Fund.
