Eugene "Gene" Kennedy

EUGENE  "GENE"  KENNEDY

Gene Kennedy age 75, died Monday, December 15, 2014 at home in the Floreffe area of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, surrounded by his family.  He was born January 3, 1939, Eugene Clyde Kennedy, in Jefferson Township (now Jefferson Hills), one of two children to Eugene Herbert Kennedy and Lillian Louise (Bucy) Kennedy.  He was retired from US Steel’s Clairton Works, where he worked as a Heater..  Gene served in the Army after the Korean War, was a member of the Olivet Presbyterian Church in West Elizabeth, Pennsylvania and was a member F & AM of Lodge 759 in Pleasant Hills, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and a Lodge in Coudersport, Pennsylvania.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mark Alan Kennedy (dod: June 1, 2002) and his only sibling, a sister, Carol Snyder.  He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Ethel Joyce (Prout) Kennedy; two children, a daughter, Rhonda (Rick) Angelone of Elizabeth Township, Pennsylvania and a son, Kevin Kennedy of the Wilson section in Clairton, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Chelsey Angelone, Ashley, Katelyn and Kristen Kennedy and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Thursday, December 18, 2014 from 2 – 8 PM in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 (Large) in Jefferson Hills, where his funeral service will be held on Friday, December 19, 2014 at 11 AM.  The Reverend Janice Holmes of the Olivet Presbyterian Church will be officiating.  Burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery in Elizabeth, Pennsylvania
