Eleanora "Nora" (Stokes) Campbell

Nora Campbell, age 90 of Economy Borough, PA, formerly of Jefferson Hills, PA, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024. She was born on November 15, 1933 in Clairton, PA, a daughter of Gorley Edward Stokes, Jr and Anna Mae (Young) Stokes.

 Nora was a Certified Nurse’s Aide at Jefferson Hills Manor and Jefferson Hospital. She volunteered at the Jefferson Hills ambulance and drove the ambulance. After her retirement she was a Housekeeper along with her sister for Fr. Bob at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church (where her grandchildren jokingly said she was “cleaning her stairway to Heaven”).

 Nora loved books, crafts, knitting and crochet and playing cards. She was a member of many card clubs through the years and maintained that tradition with her dear friends. She was a member of St. Ferdinand Church and previously a member, from the time it was built, of St. Isaac Jogues. At St. Isaac she was a member of the Christian Mothers, Busy Bee Homemakers and a Eucharistic Minister.

 In addition to her parents, Nora was preceded in death by her husband, Robley “Rip” Campbell, her son, James “Jimmy” Campbell, and her grandson, Bradley Smith, her sister, Elaine Parry and her brother, Gorley “Sonny” Stokes.

 She is survived by her daughter, Jeannie (Jeffrey) Smith of Economy Borough, PA; a granddaughter, Milena Smith of Cambridge, Maryland; two brothers and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends all who share many memories of their times together.

 At her passing she was a resident of Beaver Meadows and Gentiva Hospice. We very much appreciate the love and care they showed her during her brief stay.

 Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Celebration of Nora’s life on December 1, 2024, from 1 - 4 pm in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 Jefferson Hills, PA 15025 (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com. 

 A Memorial Mass will be Celebrated on December 2, 2024, at 10:30 am at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church of St. John XIII Parish, 1216 Collins Ave, Floreffe, Jefferson Hills, PA 15025. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH.  Nora will be laid to rest in Round Hill Cemetery with her husband.
