Edward Rutledge age 89, of West Mifflin, Pennsylvania formerly of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2019 with his loving family by his side. He was born April 3, 1929 in Pittsburgh, one of many children of the late Frank and Evelyn Rutledge. Ed was a copy machine repairman and a Korean War Army Veteran. In his retirement he loved fishing and boating at his camp on Pymatuning Lake with his loving wife Doris.
He is survived by his wife of over 25 years Doris Rutledge; 3 children, Edward D. (Martha) Rutledge, Cathi Walter, & Carol (Bob) Sabo; 4 step daughters & 1 step son; he is also survived by his and Doris’ grandchildren including Rick Weber and Brian Barnes with whom he was especially close; and 7 great grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 – 4 PM on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home for a viewing and visitation. A prayer service will be held at 4 PM at the conclusion of visitation. A burial of cremated remains will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with full military honors on Friday, February 8, 2019.
