EDWARD LESTITIAN, SR.
Edward Michael Lestitian Sr., age 83 of Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania passed away into the loving arms of our Lord on Monday, August 12, 2019. He was born May 7, 1936 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to his loving parents Edward L. and Katherine Irene (Wichman) Lestitian. He was one of four children and grew up on the South Side of Pittsburgh, graduating from South High School in 1954.
He served in the U.S. Army in the “Cold War” period between the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Afterward, Edward attended and graduated from Triangle Tech and spent the next 42 years as an HVAC Technician for Carnegie Mellon University. He married Dorothy May Lynch in 1965 and they have been together for 54 years.
Edward’s favorite things were watching “cowboy” shows on television, being outdoors in “nature”, spending time with his grandchildren and being at family gatherings.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Edward Michael Lestitian, Jr. His survivors include his wife Dorothy; three adoring daughters, Christine Lestitian, Colleen (Ron) Lestitian-Kihn, and Michelle (Tom) Anton; seven grandchildren, Jacob and Shelby Lestitian-Howard, Austin, Alayna and Angelina Kihn and Ben and Ella Anton; his three siblings, brothers, William (Nancy) Lestitian and James (Ellen) Lestitian and sister Kathy (Lenny) Eisel and many nieces, nephews and their families.
Friends will be received from 2 - 8 pm on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51, Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 10 am in the funeral home with Reverend Ken Barner officiating. Edward will be buried with Military Honors in Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery next to his son.
Edward’s family will be forever grateful for Dr. Andrew Laman and his team of nurses and staff at the UPMC Hillman Center in West Mifflin for their care and attention to detail that extended his life. His family also extends a special thank you to the Family Hospice and Palliative Care staff for their care and support – “they are angels”
