DUANE L. McCONEGHY, SR.

Duane Lee McConeghy, Sr. age 81 of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, passed away on July 17, 2018.  He was born on May 14, 1937 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania one of four children of William and Ethel (Brown) McConeghy.

He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Peace Time between the Korean War and the Vietnam War and was stationed in England.  Duane owned a Barber Shop in Monongahela, Pennsylvania at 308 West Main Street for 23 years, from the late 1980’s until retiring in 2010.  He was an avid Lionel Train collector and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Donna Smith and Darlene Popovic.  He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ida (Jester) McConeghy; two sons, Duane Lee (Holly) McConeghy, Jr. of Elizabeth Township, Pennsylvania and Jeffery (Sharla) of Jefferson Hills; four grandsons, Casey, Dan, Tyler and David; three great grandsons, Jack, John and David, Jr. and one remaining sister, Betty Able of Finleyville, Pennsylvania.

Friends will be received in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 (Large) in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025 on Thursday, July 19, 2018 from 10 AM – 2 PM at which time his funeral service will be held in the funeral home.  Duane’s burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery in Elizabeth Township.
