DOROTHY (PAULMAN) SHENKLE

Dorothy Erna Shenkle, age 92 of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, died on Saturday, August 20, 2022.  She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on August 30, 1929, a daughter of Charles and Anna (Lang) Paulman.

Dorothy was a Registered Nurse for 29 years.  She was a graduate of Allegheny General Hospital’s School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, Class of 1950.  She worked for Allegheny General Hospital, the old Mon City Hospital and later for the Visiting Nurse Association of Allegheny County.

She was a member of the Olivet Presbyterian Church in West Elizabeth, Pennsylvania, where she was an Elder and a 20 year volunteer for the Food Bank.  She was also a Meals on Wheels Volunteer and belonged to the Blaine Hill AARP #3183.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her only sibling, her sister, Verna Monnot.  She is survived by two children, son Frank (Karen) Shenkle of Pleasant Hills and daughter Christine (Rafael) Rincon of Jefferson Hills; grandson, Rafael “Raf” Rincon; two step-grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; niece, Bobbi Wagner of North Carolina; nephew, Tom Wagner of Florida; two other nephews and special friend, Peggy Ziegmond.

Family and friends will be received in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 Jefferson Hills 15025 (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com on Wednesday, August 24, 2022     from  2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm.  Her funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 11 am, with Reverend Walt Pietschmann of the Olivet Presbyterian Church officiating.   Her burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery in Pleasant Hills.
