Debbie Voland, age 66 of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 28, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 3, 1957, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, one of five children of Joseph Martin Uhlyar, Sr. and Carolyn Jean (Cunningham) Uhlyar.
Debbie grew up in Jefferson Hills and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in the class of 1975. When it came time for a family, she raised her children and helped raise nieces, nephews, and her grandchildren. Debbie worked many years providing administrative support for her husband Don’s business, Foodservice Innovators. She also worked as a paraprofessional for South Allegheny Early Childhood Center and the Good Shepherd Christian Preschool in Whitehall Borough.
Debbie always had a big heart for animals and lovingly raised several horses, dogs, and cats with her family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph, in 2022, and is survived by her husband of 46 years, Don Voland; four children, Colleen (Michael) Kudis and Jennifer (Michael) Rea, both of Jefferson Hills, Donnie (Victoria) Voland of Rostraver, and Caitlin (Samuel) Fanelli of Elizabeth; six grandchildren, Nora and Mikey Kudis, Eli Rea, and Grace, Zoey, and Violet Voland; her mother Carolyn; four siblings, Susan (William) Barrett, Julia Newton, Cathy (fiancé Ralph Swackhammer) Malingowski, and Joseph (Sandra) Uhlyar, Jr. all of Jefferson Hills, and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, from 1–3 pm and 6–8:30 pm at the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51, Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025 (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com. Debbie’s funeral service will be on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 12 Noon in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 418 Maxwell Drive, Whitehall, Pennsylvania 15236. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH. Her burial will follow at 2:30 pm in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, Pennsylvania 15017.
Debbie was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church for over forty years. Donations can be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in her memory.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Hillman Cancer Center and Bridges Hospice for their unwavering support.
Debbie’s biggest joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren!
