Christine B. Thier died peacefully at Family Hospice Inpatient Center in Lawrenceville, PA. on May 26, 2016 at the age of 97. She is survived by her daughter Diane Laird, her daughter Sue Sudzina and husband Tom Sudzina, her grandson Scott Sudzina, and her daughter Pam Thier and spouse Debbie Saunderson. She is predeceased by her husband, Frederick M. Thier, and her son-in-law James Gary Laird.
Christine was born in Bexleyheath, United Kingdom and lived in the seaside village of Eastbourne. She took a job as a telephone operator during WWII because she wanted "to be where the action is". Christine and Fred, a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, were married in High Wycombe, Buckingham, England. Following the war, Christine boarded the Queen Elizabeth I to join her husband in the United States. She was employed for many years by the Wander Sales Corporation in Mckeesport, PA. and also moonlighted producing radio commercials in the basement of the family residence for Cox's Department Store.
Chris had a marvelous sense of humor and loved to sing and dance. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Duquesne, PA. where she served as elder and choir member for decades. Chris was the one to hit all the high notes.
