CAROLYN  J.  ATKINSON

Carolyn (Bowers) Atkinson age 78 of South Park, Pennsylvania died on Thursday, July 15, 2021.  She was born on November 27, 1942, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, one of three children of Frederick L. and Josephine C. (Lazor) Bowers.

Carolyn was a member of the South Park Women’s Club, overseeing their scholarship program with the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC South) and South Park High School’s Interact Club.  She was a charter member of Jefferson Hospital’s Community Health Council and a member of the Nativity Catholic Church, now part of Our Lady of Hope Parish.

She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband of 53 years, John H. Atkinson; two sons, John H. (Dawne) Atkinson, III and Kevin M. (Melissa) Atkinson; four grandchildren, Hannah, Tristan, Andy and Abby; her brother and sister, Fred Bowers and Cheryl McCready; a niece and two nephews.

Friends will be received in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025 (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com on Sunday, July 18, 2021, from 4 – 7 PM and on Monday, July 19, 2021, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM.   A Mass of Christian Burial for Carolyn will be Celebrated in Our Lady of Hope Parish, Nativity Church at 10 AM on Tuesday, July 20, 2021. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH. Her burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery in Elizabeth, Pennsylvania.
