Brenda (Burkett) Wray

Brenda Wray, age 76 of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023. She was born Brenda Aileen Burkett on July 31, 1947, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Kenneth Ray Burkett, Sr. and Grace H. (Beedle) Burkett.

Brenda worked many years for Dr. Albert Monheim, a Dentist in Elizabeth, Pennsylvania and later many years for Pennsylvania Municipal Service Company (PAMS) at the tax office in Large, Jefferson Hills, PA. She had been a member of the Floreffe Ladies Auxiliary to the Fire Department; a member of the Wilson AARP # 1612 and is a current member of the West Jefferson Hill Historical Society and the newly formed Elrama Community Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Wray, Jr. in 2017, and her only sibling, her brother, Kenneth Ray Burkett, Jr. in 2018. She is survived by three stepchildren, Jo Anne (John) Krise, John W. (Kathy) Wray, III and Karen (the late Ronald) DeGrange; six grandchildren, Mary, John IV, Victoria, Samantha, Sarah and Wyatt; nieces and nephew, Kathy (Chuck Ullom) Burkett, Joanne (Ted) Panico, Bill Burkett, Tammy (Glenn) Bales and Jessica (Will Larrow) Burkett. Brenda was also “Bubba” to great nephew, Jaxson Larrow, who had a special relationship with her.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, December 10, 2023, from 1 – 6 PM in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home (Large) Jefferson Hills, PA 15025 (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com.  Her funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home on Monday, December 11, 2023, at 10 AM. She will be buried in Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery next to her husband, John, and parents.
