It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ann Miller Jones, age 85, of Pleasant Hills, formerly of Burgettstown, on Thursday, March 13, 2025. Ann entered this world on November 23, 1939, in Washington, Pennsylvania, where she was born to the late Irvin and Helen Miller.
Ann was a proud graduate from Union High School in Burgettstown, class of 1957, after which her dedication to helping others led her to pursue a career in nursing. 1960 marked the year she earned a Diploma of Nursing from Washington Hospital School of Nursing; she then went on to pursue a career as a Registered Nurse, dedicated to the well-being of patients while working floor duty, and as an operating room nurse. Throughout her life, she became known for her compassionate spirit and unwavering commitment to those around her.
Homemaking and spending time with close friends and family is how Ann truly enjoyed life. In addition to being a great and dedicated mother, she thrilled at planning and preparing home cooked meals, especially at the holidays — Thanksgiving was her favorite time of year. During her 55 years in Pleasant Hills, she maintained a beautiful home that she cherished and was often complimented on by those who lived nearby. She also enjoyed collecting and refinishing antiques, doing word search and crossword puzzles which helped to keep her sharp to the very end, and could play a mean game of bridge.
Ann is survived by 3 children, Jeffrey Jones, Gregory Jones and Julie Jones; nieces and nephews, Shawn (Jenny) Miller, Amy (Jeff) Froats, Mary (Dennis) Singer, Andrew (Becky) Miller, Marynel Wahl, and Edward (Diane) Wahl; many great- nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews; God daughter, Jade Miller; sister-in-Law, Marie Miller; former sister-in-law, Dr. Carolyn Miller; and her 4 legged furry grandchildren, Gus, Chevy, Jackson & Tucker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Jones; brother, David Miller; and former husband and friend, Robert Jones.
A reception of friends will be held at Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home, 1701 Route 51, Jefferson Hills, PA 15025, on Friday, April 4th from 4 – 8 pm and on Saturday April 5th from 10-11am at which time her Memorial Service will begin at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park in Pleasant Hills.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests that donations be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 400 Old Clairton Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236 or to the Washington Area Humane Society, PO Box 66, Eighty Four, PA 15330 https://www.washingtonpashelter.org/donate/, reflecting Ann’s unwavering love for her community and animals alike.
As we celebrate the life of Ann, let us cherish the memories and the indelible mark she left on all who knew her.
